MIRA Dissolution Authority

MIRA Dissolution Authority, previously known as The Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority (MIRA), is Connecticut’s quasi-public organization responsible for the development and operation of systems and facilities that turn municipal solid waste into useful materials. Our systems and facilities help our state meet the goals of the current Solid Waste Management Plan, which are to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover resources from municipal solid waste. MIRA systems and facilities provide for solid waste disposal and volume reduction, the processing and remarketing of single-stream recyclable material, and the production of energy from the non-recyclable portion of the waste stream.

*Fringe is the cost associated with employment other than salary and wages. This typically includes the employer's share of health and retirement benefits but may vary across each entity. Quasi-public agencies utilizing the state's CORE-CT payroll system will show significantly higher fringe rates due costs including a number of components, some of which are not related to the cost of the benefits earned by the employee to whom they applied. For more detailed information about how totals for fringe are calculated, please inquire directly with the quasi-public agency.
